A small bump......

A dear friend of mine just had her first baby just the other day. My heart was exploding to see her. I wanted to tell her she was my new hero because childbirth, whichever way you do it, is not for the faint hearted. I wanted to meet her new little man. Holding his tiny little body flooded me with memories of the birth of my mini, my own miracle, my own heart. It brought back the absolute overwhelming emotion, the physical and mental exhaustion and that incredible moment when you hear your baby's first cry. Its like the whole world stands still. That sound, it changes you. Somewhere in the haze of blood, sweat and tears...it's like that cry lodges itself in your heart and you are profoundly and irrevocably changed. You know that forever, this little person will have your heart. So, in tribute to my friend and her new little guy, and parents everywhere, enjoy this Ed Sheeran song. It's got a sad ending, but the rest is beautiful. Just thinking of it makes me want to go kiss Mini while he sleeps.

Mini about 1 day old

You were just a Small Bump unborn, in four months you're brought to life,
you might be left with my hair, but you'll have your Mother's eyes,
I'll hold your body in my hands, be as gentle as I can, but for now you're a scan of my unmade plans, Small bump, four months you are brought to life.

And I'll whisper quietly, I'll give you nothing but truth,
ff you're not inside me, I'll put my future in you.

You are my one, and only,
you can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.
You are my one, and only,
you can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.
And you'll be alright.

You're just a small bump unknown, you'll grow into your skin,
with a smile like hers and a dimple beneath your chin,
finger nails the size of a half grain of rice,
and eyelids closed to be soon opened wide a small bump, in four months you'll open your eyes.

And I'll hold you tightly, and tell you nothing but truth,
if you're not inside me, I'll put my future in you.

You are my one, and only,
and you can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.
You are my one, and only,
you can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight.
And you'll be alright.
